It's impossible to describe the beauty of this place. The evening sun warms up our campsite and gives a wonderful light to the steep mountains surrending us. This is Baffin as you see it in pictures. This is so beautiful that it is hard to believe it is real.
Clyde River was an nice experience. It was long days with packing, repairing and preparing. Since we are not the most efficient group, we were of course not finished before late in the last night before departure. We also had time to enjoy. A trip to the store could take quite some time because it was so many nice people to talk to the. And we absolutely enjoyed all the dinners we were invited to with Al, his wife Nancy and the other police in town Claude. They have been wonderful to us and helped us a lot. Thank you!
We have now had three days on skis. The weather has been fantastic, the conditions the best, the dogs pull well and we are in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Anyway we have been a bit unlucky. After some hours skiing, I got sick and we needed an early camp. Allready the following day I was feeling better, but then Emma got ill. We have had some camps close to the seaice, and since we melt snow to get drinking water, we have probably got some salt in the water. We think this is the reason for why we got sick.
Today has been a hard day uphill. All day we have been two, sometimes three, babes in front of each sledge, which is now about 120 kg. It has been windy and cloudy. But now, in the evening, we are on the the top of the pass and the sun is shining.
